Gabby Williams, Our Former Storm Defensive Monster, Is Going To Unrivaled and Women's Hoops Is About To Feel The Quake
Hold UP, Seattle! You hear about this? Our girl, our former Storm powerhouse Gabby Williams, is making moves. And when I say moves, I mean HUGE moves that are gonna echo across the league. The news dropped this Thursday, Gabby is signing a multi-year deal with Unrivaled, that new 3-on-3 league kicking off its season in January 2027. This isn't just a signing, fam, this is a statement. For Gabby, for women's basketball, for everyone, it’s a game-changer!
Unrivaled Knew What They Were Doing: She's ELITE
Honestly, are we surprised Unrivaled locked her down? Gabby is in her first season with the Golden State Valkyries after joining them as a free agent this offseason, and she's absolutely lighting it up. She's leading the Valkyries in scoring, dropping a career-high 16.3 points per game, and she's second in assists with 2.5 dimes per game. She's not just playing, she's DOMINATING. And you know what she said in her statement? It's about "the opportunity to compete alongside some of the best players in the world, continue growing my game, and be a part of something that is pushing women's basketball forward." That's the Gabby we know, always pushing, always growing. She's always been about elevating her game, and let's be real, that's what we loved about her when she rocked the green and yellow with the Storm. She carried that fire then, and she's still bringing it!

The Defensive Queen Who Used To Own Our Paint
Remember when she was shutting down opponents for four incredible seasons right here with our Seattle Storm? Man, we still miss that energy! That's our Gabby! She's widely regarded as one of the best defensive players in the entire WNBA, no debate. She finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting last year, and honestly, we all know she deserved more. In 2025, this woman recorded a mind-blowing 99 steals. That's not just good, that's the second-most in a single season in league history! Let that sink in. She's not just an asset, she's a lockdown force. And don't forget her international game, winning consecutive EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2025 and 2026 with Fenerbahçe. She's represented France at the Olympics twice, taking home bronze in 2020 and silver in 2024. A true international superstar, no doubt! Her Unrivaled schedule means she won't be with Fenerbahçe from January to mid-March, but hey, some players head back overseas after the 3-on-3 season ends. You know Gabby will find a way to make it work.
So yeah, 2027 January, mark it down. Gabby will be out there, tearing it up, making history in the 3-on-3 format. Our former Storm legend is still showing the world what hard work and pure talent looks like. She's got that drive, that fire, and she's truly special. Can't wait to see her continue pushing the game forward, just like she said. The future of women's hoops is bright, and Gabby is a massive part of it. You know we'll be watching!
