Hutson Wins It in OT and the Canadiens Just Took Control of This Series

Montreal is heading home with the Lightning in their rearview mirror. Hutson banged in the overtime winner to give the Canadiens a 2-1 series lead, and suddenly this first-round matchup is looking a lot different than it did a few games ago.

The setup was textbook playoff hockey: Texier found Hutson at the right moment, and he made no mistake finishing it off. That's the kind of clutch goal that shifts momentum in a hurry, especially in a best-of-seven where every game feels like it's got everything on the line.

A Statement at Home

This was Montreal's first home playoff game in franchise history, and they made it count. Playing in front of their own crowd is supposed to feel different, and the Canadiens proved why tonight. The energy of the home rink can be the extra skater you don't see on the stat sheet, and Montreal clearly felt it.

Game 3 belonged to the Canadiens, and they took full advantage of the opportunity to seize control of the series. Point had tied things up earlier with a power play goal, but when Texier and Hutson connected in overtime, that was all she wrote.

What's Next

The Lightning are facing a tough spot now. Down a game in this series, they're going to have to dig deep if they want to keep their season alive. For Montreal, the goal is simple: protect home ice and extend this thing. Every game matters from here on out, and the Canadiens just proved they know how to win the moments that count.
