There isn't much positive things to say after a Seattle Mariners 1-8 road trip. In the middle of a division title race, the Mariners go on a nine-game road trip to Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles, and drop eight-of-nine. Mariners are also now 64-64, back to .500 baseball.
We all tried to burn down the Jerry Dipoto era, the Seattle Mariners president of baseball operations, for his comments about wanting to win 54% of games every year. Now, the Mariners are facing the reality of being a team that doesn't even win 50% of their games in 2024.
Jerry Dipoto says focusing on winning the World Series could have left the Mariners “stuck in the mud”

Honestly this might be a bigger deal than the 54% lol pic.twitter.com/9GWjx41Fpn
It was so bad that our top selling shirt ever was a 54% shirt to make fun of the whole thing.
Personally I had some unrealistic expectations that with Logan Gilbert on the mound, maybe the Mariners could muster up ONE win against the Dodger... Nope. He goes 4.2 innings, gives up 7 hits, and 6 earned runs. The Dodgers made the Seattle Mariners look like a AAA team this week. Whats even worse, is that the Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates did the same.
Now the Mariners sit 5 games back of the Astros in the division, and a staggering 7.5 games back of the AL final Wild Card Playoff third spot.
It's over. Unfortunately, it would require a MIRACLE to find a way back into the picture. A 4-5-6 game winning streak and some luck. It's likely just not going to happen.
What is the solution?
There is only one solution if you ask me. Fire everyone. I don't even think Scott Servais should be managing the next game for the Mariners. I get it though, we are cheap, we have weird ownership, they might not do. They might just wait out the season cause we sell some tickets and have some fireworks shows.
Yet, I think by the end of the year, they should both be gone, Jerry Dipoto and Scott Servais.
The team is playing with no heart, no passion, nothing. We have some decent players, we have the pitching, we tried to make some deadline moves... The only reason answer I could come up with is that the voice in the clubhouse is dead. Scott Servais must go if that is the case.
There is no excuse for this team to just run it back next year.
