Jakub Dobes Made 38 Saves and Montreal Just Put Tampa Bay on Life Support

The Montreal Canadiens are one win away from sending the Lightning home. Goalie Jakub Dobes stopped 38 shots to lead Montreal to a 3-2 regulation victory in Game 5, giving the Habs a 3-2 series lead and the chance to close this thing out at home.

This is the kind of performance that wins playoff series. When you're playing a veteran team like Tampa Bay, you need your goalie to steal games, and Dobes did exactly that. Thirty-eight saves is the kind of workload that either breaks you or propels your team forward. For Montreal, it's the latter.

The Battle Is Real

Head coach Martin St. Louis said it best after the game: "We're engaged. We're in a battle." That's playoff hockey right there. These two teams have been evenly matched through four games, which is both impressive and encouraging for a young Canadiens squad facing Lightning experience.

The fact that Montreal can stay this close to a team like Tampa Bay and then win in regulation is massive. This isn't a lucky bounceout. This is a team that's executing, staying disciplined, and getting the goaltending it needs to advance.

One More Win

The Canadiens are heading back home with a chance to close it out. One more win and they move forward. That's the position you want to be in as a team, especially when you've got momentum on your side and your netminder playing lights out.
