The Seattle Seahawks took Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba with the 20th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. They knew, and I am sure he knew, that the Seahawks were already stacked at the position with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Yet, I do not think he thought that it would be a really rough start in the NFL. Jaxon Smith-Njigba (JSN) was struggling through the first couple weeks of the season.
Against the Panthers and Giants, the Seahawks won, but JSN did not produce much:
Vs. CAR: 1 catch for 10 yards
Vs. NYG: 3 catches for 5 yards.
Back to back weeks with a total of 4 catches and 15 yards is not how expected, nor the Seahawks, that the young star would playing.
Since those games, things have changed, and he has become a staple of the Seahawks offense, even in a bad loss to the Ravens today 37-3.
- VS. Cincinnati Bengals: 4 catches for 48 yards
- VS. Arizona Cardinals: 4 catches for 63 yards and 1 touchdown
- VS. Cleveland Browns: 3 catches for 36 yards and 1 touchdown
- VS. Baltimore Ravens: 6 catches for 63 yards
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is finally becoming a staple of the Seahawks offense.
