Julio, Beniers, and Darnold: Are They Invisible to Everyone Else?!

Alright, Seattle, listen up! I just got a peek at the Yakima Herald from May 27, 2026, and you are NOT gonna believe this. I was ready to dive deep into some hard-hitting analysis on our Emerald City squads, you know? What's the deal with Cal Raleigh behind the plate at T-Mobile Park, or how Sam Darnold is settling in under Coach Mike Macdonald with his new receiving corps of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed, and Cooper Kupp? I wanted the scoop on Matty Beniers tearing it up for the Kraken, or Cristian Roldan fresh off his USMNT call-up for the Sounders. But what did I find? Pretty much… crickets for our pro teams. My blood pressure is definitely spiking.

High School Heroes, But Where Are Our Stars?

Don't get me wrong, I love sports, and I'm sure there are some incredible stories out there. The Yakima Herald was all over "Prep Sports" and a "State track preview." They were talking up high school talent like Zillah's Garcia and La Salle's Dufault aiming for sprint wins. They even highlighted Ellensburg's boys bringing home third-place state trophies, riding the swift legs of Colton Magruder and Joshua Boast. These guys are now leading the Central Washington University men's team, which is cool for them, seriously. But as a Seattle fan, my mind immediately jumps to, "Okay, great, but what about Julio Rodriguez flying around center field? What's the latest from Jordan Eberle or Jared McCann on the ice for the Kraken?" It's like a different universe out there, and frankly, I'm a little frustrated.

Our Teams Are Just… Listed?!

The kicker? They actually have a "Pro Sports" section. You see it right there: "Kraken Mariners Reign Seahawks Sounders Storm." They list our teams! So they know they exist! But for the life of me, I couldn't find any actual news, stats, or game recaps about them in this May 27th edition. Not a peep about how Joey Daccord is holding it down in net, or if Adam Larsson and Vince Dunn are dominating on defense. What's the word on Chandler Stephenson and Berkly Catton making plays? Or Tye Kartye and Kaapo Kakko lighting up the scoreboard? How is Brandon Montour fitting in? It’s late May, people! We’re deep into the MLB and NHL seasons, and the NFL hype is always real! The 12s want to know about our guys, not just see their team names in a menu bar.

Seattle, we bleed green and blue! We need to know about the latest from Jordan Morris on the pitch, how the Mariners are performing, or what new schemes Brian Fleury is cooking up for the Seahawks offense. This isn't just a sport, it's our identity! We’ll keep bringing you the real talk and the deep dives on our teams, because it’s clear some folks out there are missing the big picture. Stay tuned to Seattle On Tap for what actually matters: our teams, our city, our passion. We’ll be here, ready for the next game and everything that’s at stake.
