Justin Simmons, Two-Time Pro Bowl Safety, Retires at 32 After Nine Seasons With Broncos

Justin Simmons is hanging it up. The former Denver Broncos free safety announced his retirement Wednesday after nine seasons in the league, closing the book on a solid NFL career that earned him two Pro Bowl selections.

A Solid Run in Denver

Simmons spent the bulk of his career with the Broncos, playing for Denver from 2016 through 2023. That's eight seasons of service time in a Broncos uniform, which means he was there through some ups and downs in that organization. The two-time Pro Bowl nod tells you he performed at a high level during his time in Mile High. At 32, Simmons decided now is the time to step away from the game.

One More Stop Before the End

After leaving Denver, Simmons spent 2024 with another team before ultimately deciding to retire. The move closes out a 17-year playoff history that never quite reached the mountain top, but there's no shame in a long NFL career with consistent recognition from the Pro Bowl voting.

It's the kind of quiet exit you don't always hear about in a league that moves fast, but Simmons had his time and made his mark. Next up for the safety landscape: younger guys looking to make their own names and earn their own Pro Bowl tickets.
