Kevin Durant Unlikely to Suit Up for Game 6, and the Rockets' Injury Crisis Just Got Worse

The Houston Rockets are running out of bodies. According to reports, the team is not expecting Kevin Durant to play in Game 6 against the Lakers, adding another name to an injury list that's already threatening to derail their playoff run.

This isn't just bad timing. The Rockets are fighting for their playoff lives, and losing Durant for what could be an elimination game puts them in an impossible spot. They managed to force Game 6 by winning Game 5, but that victory came with the knowledge that their star power might not be available when they need it most.

Staying Alive With Limited Options

The Rockets avoided elimination by winning Game 5, forcing the series back to the court for another round. But now, with Durant potentially sidelined, their offensive firepower takes a massive hit heading into a matchup where they're already fighting uphill against the Lakers.

This is the kind of injury timing that can sink a season. One win doesn't mean much if your best players aren't healthy enough to keep playing.

The Clock is Ticking

Game 6 looms, and the Rockets are running out of time to get healthy. Every possession matters now. Every player on the floor counts. Without Durant in the lineup, the burden falls even heavier on whoever else Houston has available to step up and keep their season alive.

The Pistons also stayed alive with a Game 5 win of their own, so the Rockets aren't alone in fighting elimination. But in the NBA playoffs, you can't count on injuries to go your way. You have to execute with what you've got, and right now, what Houston has got might not be enough.
