Kraken Shutout in Colorado: Joey Daccord Faces Two-Goal Deficit He Couldn't Overcome

The Seattle Kraken skied into Denver and came out flat, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Colorado Avalanche on April 16. It's the kind of game that stings, especially when your goalie never really got a chance to steal one.

Joey Daccord faced a barrage in this one, but the Kraken offense simply couldn't generate enough to threaten. That's the brutal part about getting shutout at altitude: you're not just losing, you're losing without putting up a fight on the scoresheet. Two goals don't sound like much, but when you can't answer back even once, it feels like a lot.

Road Struggles Continue

This loss adds to what's been a tough stretch for Seattle away from home. The Kraken came into Denver looking to make a statement in the early part of the season, but instead left with nothing. When you're playing a team like Colorado, you need your best effort every single night, and tonight wasn't it for the Kraken.

Captain Jordan Eberle, Matty Beniers, and Jared McCann couldn't find the back of the net. Even with Vince Dunn and the rest of the blue line trying to create chances from the back end, the Kraken just couldn't get anything going offensively. That's not going to cut it when you're on the road in the NHL.

Back Home Next

The good news? The Kraken get to head back to the Emerald City and play at Climate Pledge Arena, where things tend to be a little easier. Seattle's got to shake this one off quick and find their offense again. Getting shutout once is bad luck. Getting shutout twice would be a problem. The Kraken need to regroup, get back in the win column, and remind everyone why they're built to compete night in and night out.
