Lakers Finish Off Rockets 98-78 and It's Their First Series Win in Three Years

LeBron and the Lakers finally got it done on Friday night. After nearly blowing a 3-0 series lead to the Rockets, Los Angeles closed out Houston 98-78 in Game 6 to lock up their first playoff series win in three years. One-sided doesn't even begin to describe it once they got rolling.

Lakers Weather the Storm, Then Run Away

Look, the Rockets made it interesting. Down 3-0 in the series, Houston wasn't ready to go quietly into the offseason. They pushed back hard enough that the Lakers had to survive some real moments of doubt. But when it mattered most, Los Angeles found another gear.

The final score tells the story: 98-78. That's a 20-point gap in an elimination game. The Lakers' offense clicked when it had to, and their defense tightened down the stretch. It wasn't always pretty getting there, but in the playoffs, getting out is what counts.

What's Next: Thunder Awaits

The Lakers are moving on to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the next round. That's a completely different challenge. OKC has been one of the hottest teams in the league, and this matchup is shaping up to be a real test for a Los Angeles team that just escaped the Rockets in six games.

For now, though, Lakers fans can exhale. Three years since their last series win. That drought is officially over. Time to turn the page and get ready for Thunder Town.
