Lakers Push Rockets to the Brink with Overtime Thriller, James and Smart Lead the Way

The Los Angeles Lakers are one win away from closing out the Houston Rockets after a 112-108 overtime victory in Game 3 on Friday. LeBron James and Marcus Smart both recorded double-doubles to push the Lakers within striking distance of sweeping their first-round series at home in Houston.

James Delivers in the Clutch

LeBron James put up 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the visiting Lakers forced overtime and pulled out the win. It was a signature performance from one of the league's best, showing exactly why the Lakers have their first-round opponent on the ropes heading into the next game. Marcus Smart chipped in his own double-double effort to support James down the stretch.

Lakers Tightening Their Grip

With a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, Los Angeles is in complete control. The Rockets will need to dig deep in Game 4 if they want to avoid elimination. The Lakers' ability to win on the road against a Houston team that's supposed to be tough at home tells you everything about where this series stands right now. One more win and the first-round matchup is done.

Game 4 is coming soon, and the Rockets will be desperate to stay alive. If they can't find a way to break through the Lakers' defense and get contributions across the board like Los Angeles has been getting, this could be a quick playoff exit for Houston.
