Lamar Jackson Shows Up on Day One and Jesse Minter Gets His Answer

Lamar Jackson reported to the Baltimore Ravens' offseason workout program Monday morning, and that simple act answered a question that had been hanging over the team for the last week. New Ravens coach Jesse Minter was cagey about whether the two-time MVP would even show up to voluntary workouts. On Monday, Jackson walked through the door, and Minter got his answer.

Minter Wasn't Sure What to Expect

Last week at the NFL's annual meeting in Phoenix, Minter admitted he didn't know what Jackson's participation level would look like in the offseason program. Since these workouts are voluntary, there was genuine uncertainty about whether the star quarterback would commit to Phase One. Minter's response at the time was pretty telling: "I think he's excited about opportunities in the offseason program. And again, we'll see on April 6th. We'll see who all walks in the door."

The Ravens posted video of Jackson arriving to the team facilities Monday morning, making it official. No drama, no holdout talk. Jackson simply showed up and got to work with his new coach.

Phase One Kicks Off

Monday marked the beginning of Phase One for Baltimore's offseason program. For the next two weeks, activities are limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation. It's the foundational stuff, but it matters. Jackson's presence sends a message to the locker room about his commitment to the Minter era.

The Ravens now move forward with their quarterback in the fold as they build chemistry and prepare for the season ahead.
