Mariners Owner John Stanton Is Focused on Mariners, Not Purchasing Seahawks

Seattle Mariners chairman John Stanton is shutting down speculation about a potential Seahawks purchase — at least for now.

Speaking to Fox 13 Seattle's Aaron Levine on Wednesday morning, Stanton made it clear that his attention is squarely on baseball and the Mariners organization.

"I've got my hands full with the Mariners and I'm going to stay focused on baseball," Stanton told @BMacTV on Fox 13 Seattle, when asked directly about his interest in owning the Seahawks.

The statement comes amid growing speculation about who will purchase the Seattle Seahawks following the ongoing sale process connected to the Paul Allen estate. With the Seahawks representing one of the most valuable NFL franchises on the market, potential buyers from across the country — and Seattle itself — have been rumored as interested parties.

Stanton, who has led the Mariners ownership group since 2016, has overseen a significant rebuild of the franchise that has returned Seattle baseball to relevance. The Mariners have been one of the more competitive teams in the American League West in recent years, and Stanton's focus on growing the organization both on and off the field appears to be his priority.

For Seahawks fans hoping a local ownership group with deep Seattle sports ties might step up, Stanton's comments are a clear signal — at least publicly — that he is not in the running. The search for new Seahawks ownership continues, and with a franchise of this magnitude, expect the list of suitors to grow in the weeks and months ahead.

As for the Mariners, Opening Day is here, and Stanton appears ready to ride out the 2026 season with his eyes firmly on the diamond.
