The Seattle Mariners Need A MAJOR Shakeup... This Season Is Over.

Make it five-straight losses for the Seattle Mariners, against teams that are not contenders, or even in a playoff spot right now. Mariners have dropped three-games to the Tigers, and then two-games to the Pirates. The Mariners are now 3.5 games back of the AL West top spot, and 5 games back of the Wild Card.

Our two co-founders, brothers @GeorgeONTap and @SamiONTap will each break down some of their thoughts from today:

George's Thoughts:

RIP to the 2024 Seattle Mariners. Season is over. When you strive to be mediocre, SHOCKER you get a mediocre product.

I don't want to hear anything positive from this fan base either. This is actually the fault of Mariners twitter and the fan base. For being so happy this off-season about our 'upgrades.'

We took the most conservative route to 'get better' we demand nothing from this front office after Jerry Dipoto's  slap in the face "54%" comments. We did this to ourselves.

I was one of them that believed too. I feel like an idiot. We are wasting a pitching staff unlike one we probably will ever see again too. This is just a joke of a team, a joke of a franchise.

CLEAN THE HOUSE this off-season for Gods sake. I plain and simply do not believe in Jerry Dipoto or Scott Servais or their plan anymore.

Sami's Thoughts:

It's hard to the see the positive at this point. I have tried, many different times, to just look at the good side of things, but it's hard when you know the division is going to get out of reach soon, and the wild card is pretty much getting out of reach already.

What leads me to believe there is any chance this group of guys turns it around? What evidence is there? NONE.

If this season ends again with no playoffs, that is two years in a row, two season where the 'goal' was to win it all, and we didn't even make the playoffs. Sure you could blame this on John Stanton for being cheap, BUT you can also blame Jerry Dipoto for now finding the right guys at the right price.

If we miss the playoffs, I say fire them all. Fire Jerry, Fire Scott Servais, the entire staff needs to be gone. Gut it all.

My wife and I watch all of the Mariners games. We are not going to analyze this team. All we can say is that we are very disappointed. I expect there is going to be a major shakeup and we feel it’s needed.

That is bullshit to say that they didn’t try. Dipoto has made several trades to bring in star players . look at what they have done since they got here THAT IS THE PROBLEM, GARVER plays like shit. Haniger, was a mistake before he was signed, the problem is shitty MANAGEMENT that does not care about batting averages and base hits! Servaise will put d. Moore in the lineup and others like him almost every day …they got Robles then he hardly ever played, finally got smart and play him a lot more now after I complained, now look at him go! France was hitting .223 yet they trade him away with no one but a rookie that cant hit worth a shit to take his place. the trade for Arozerana. the guy plays like shit now under our shitty management, same goes for Polanco, the guy was awesome until Mariners management got a hold of him. Rojas was playing greater but he has had enough too and his batting average has fallen from near .300 to what .250? is that all his fault? France used to bat like .286 as well, until this season. Luke Raley was batting better, like .255 but he too has fizzled out. The moron Servais had a guy named Luis URIAS that wasn’t hitting worth a fuck and what did he do? but make him a regular starter! wasted how many at bats on him before he finally got DFA after I sent Scott an email to complain. then there is Dominic CANZONE. the guy never has had any success batting,……..EVER IN MLB. so what did the Mariuners bring him to Seattle for? to play in the minor leagues and develope? NOPE! they made him a REGULAR STARTER in the outfield to waste another 259 at bats or so! DO YOU GET IT NOW? BAD MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We can come up with all sorts of excuses but the bottom line is this franchise is not willing to go out and build around one of the most talented pitching staff in the MLB. The offense needs work lots of work. It’s so frustrating that the Mariners strike out more times than any team in baseball. The overall batting average is embarrassing. Servais either has to go our get more aggressive. This past month I’ve watched Servais pull a starting pitcher who has complete control of the game solely based on pitch count. It’s crunch time. Keep the starters in. Play to win! So much could be said how we lack aggressive offense. Get people on base and move them over by bunting the ball. Quit swing for the fence. Play smart and hit the ball where the defense isn’t. Don’t let this season be over.

When I looked at the moves the Mariners made in the off-season I told everyone that would listen that the 2024 Mariners offense was going to be worse than the 2023 offense and in 2023 it was bad. This team just won’t spend the money to get a couple of hitters that would really make a difference. It is a pathetic shame that we are wasting what is a historically good starting rotation because of a sad lack of offense. The starting rotation is good enough to put us into the World Series at least twice in the next four seasons if we only had a respectable offense. You can’t win if you can’t score is true in all sports.

I said at the beginning of the season that this team was good, but not great. I got piled on by the see-no-evil fans. Turns out even my assessment was optimistic. We’re going to go from 10 games ahead to missing the playoffs in the course of a couple of months. Clean house.
