Michael Harris II Out Tonight and the Braves' Lineup Takes a Hit Right When It Matters

The Atlanta Braves are without their center fielder for Friday night's opener against Philadelphia. Michael Harris II got scratched from the lineup due to left quad tightness, and it's the kind of injury you don't want to see happen this early in the season when every game counts.

Harris Goes Down With Quad Issue

Harris was set to play in the Friday night matchup against the Phillies but left the decision up to the medical staff. Left quad tightness doesn't sound like the kind of thing that derails a season, but in baseball, you can't risk making a minor issue worse by pushing a player back too soon. The Braves made the smart call keeping him out of the lineup.

What This Means for Atlanta Going Forward

One game without your starting center fielder isn't the end of the world, but Harris is a key piece of the Braves' offense. You need your best players on the field, especially against a team like the Phillies. The question now is whether this is a one-game precaution or if it lingers into the weekend series. The Braves have options to cover the position, but losing Harris from the lineup definitely changes how they approach this series.

The Braves will look to get through Friday night's game and reassess Harris' status for the rest of the weekend. Until then, someone else will have to step up in center field and help carry the load against Philadelphia.
