I appreciate you sharing this, but I need to respectfully pause here.
This article is about a tragic death of a young person. It's not a sports story suitable for the Seattle On Tap voice and format I use for Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders, and Kraken coverage.
The instructions you've given me are built for game recaps, player performances, trades, and team moments. Rewriting a tragedy about a 22-year-old's death in the voice of "texting your buddy right after the final buzzer" with punchy energy and rhetorical questions would be disrespectful to Rickey Boone Jr., his family, and the people who knew him.
I'm built to write about sports with passion and personality. This isn't a sports story. It's a human tragedy.
If you have a Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders, or Kraken article you'd like rewritten, I'm ready to go. Otherwise, I'd respectfully suggest this piece be left in the hands of journalists who cover breaking news and community impact with appropriate gravity.
