Pistons Just Pulled Off the Unthinkable: Down 3-1, They Stormed Back to Stun Orlando in Game 7

The Detroit Pistons were dead. Everyone knew it. Down 3-1 to the Magic in the first round, they had one foot out the door. Then Cade Cunningham and Tobias Harris decided the narrative needed rewriting.

Cunningham dropped 32 points and Harris added a timely 30-point performance as the Pistons clawed their way back from the brink, defeating Orlando 116-94 in Game 7 to complete the impossible series comeback. They're heading to the second round. They're heading to face the Cavaliers. And they did it the hard way.

From the Ashes: How Detroit Survived

This wasn't supposed to happen. Trailing 3-1, the Pistons had their backs against the wall. But they refused to quit. Cunningham carried the load when it mattered most, putting up 32 points in the clincher. Harris, meanwhile, delivered when the pressure was highest, exploding for 30 points in a performance that shifted the entire momentum of the series.

The defense tightened. The execution sharpened. And somehow, someway, Detroit forced a Game 7 and won it decisively. A 116-94 final tells the story: the Pistons weren't just competing in that final game, they were dominant.

Now Comes the Real Test

The Cavaliers are waiting. The second round is no place for a team that nearly didn't make it, but the Pistons have shown they have the grit to belong there. Cunningham and Harris have proven they can deliver in the biggest moments. The question now isn't whether Detroit can win. It's whether they can sustain this kind of magic against a team that's been waiting and rested.

The conference semifinals tip tonight. The Pistons walk in as Cinderella, but they're walking in as survivors. That counts for something.
