That 7-5 Mariners Loss to Baltimore? It's Early, But It Tells You Plenty

Alright, Seattle, can we talk about that game against Baltimore? Dropping a 7-5 slugfest to the Orioles, man, that one stings. It's early in April, I know, I know. We're just getting into the groove of the MLB season, but these kinds of losses, where the bats show up but the pitching just can't hold the line, they feel like gut punches, even in the first few weeks. We bleed green and blue here in the Emerald City, and watching our guys fight only to come up short leaves you just... frustrated.

Our Bats Showed Up, But We Needed More

Let's be real, scoring five runs in a game should usually put you in a good spot to win. Our lineup, with guys like Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez leading the charge, showed some fight out there at T-Mobile Park. But giving up seven runs, that's just not going to cut it consistently. It’s early, and we're seeing some of our team form emerge, for better or worse. We’re still figuring things out, for sure, but the consistency needs to lock in. Every game matters, especially these early ones that set the tone for the entire year. We need to tighten things up, plain and simple. We want to see those strong outings where we can celebrate more than just individual hits or clutch plays. We want W's.

2027 NFL Draft Talk? Already?!

Meanwhile, while we're out here stressing about early season Mariners baseball, some folks are already looking lightyears ahead. Can you believe ESPN's Matt Miller and Jordan Reid are already dropping an early top five for every position in the 2027 NFL Draft class? Like, seriously, 2027? We're still in April of the current year, the NFL season hasn't even fully kicked off, and we're talking about college kids who are still years away from playing pro ball. It just shows you how wild the scouting game is these days. While we can’t get into the specifics of who they're naming, because, well, the M's game just finished, it's wild to think that far ahead when we've got so much going on *right now* in Seattle sports. But hey, that's what being a fan is all about, right? You live and die with every pitch, then you instantly pivot to what's next. For our Mariners, that means shaking off this 7-5 loss and getting ready for the next one. We gotta keep our chins up and rally behind our team. Let’s get back out there and start stacking those wins. Go M’s!
