Odell Beckham Jr. Just Worked Out for the Giants and the Timing Tells You Everything

The New York Giants brought Odell Beckham Jr. in Monday for a workout and physical, sources told ESPN. But here's the thing: don't expect him in a Giants uniform anytime soon. No signing is imminent, according to a source, and it looks like New York is going to pump the brakes until after this week's draft plays out.

The Reunion Tour That Might Actually Happen

Beckham, 33, has made zero secret about what he wants. The guy wants to play this season. More than that, he wants to come home to the Giants, the team that drafted him out of LSU back in 2014. He's been vocal about it for weeks now, even sitting down with Giants ownership and new coach John Harbaugh at the NFL's annual meetings to make his pitch in person. And apparently, the Giants were listening. They've been open to bringing him back, but they wanted to see how he actually looked on the field before making any moves. Monday's workout and physical? That was the Giants doing their homework.

What You're Looking At Here

Beckham spent this offseason training in Arizona. He didn't play last season at all. The year before that, he suited up for nine games with the Miami Dolphins and caught nine passes for 55 yards. The 2014-16 Pro Bowl receiver clearly wants to prove he's still got something left in the tank. He's been nothing but straightforward about the whole thing: "That sounds great; if that opportunity presents itself, I would love to do that," when talking about a Giants return.

The Giants have a major draft coming this week, and it sounds like they want to see how that shakes out before committing to anything. Don't be shocked if Beckham ends up back in New York, but it's not happening today.
