Paolo Banchero and the Magic Just Ended Detroit's Perfect Season in Game 1

The top-seeded Detroit Pistons walked into Game 1 of their first-round Eastern Conference matchup feeling like the team to beat. They left with an L that nobody saw coming.

Paolo Banchero and the visiting Orlando Magic absolutely controlled the pace from the opening tip, never trailing as they upended Detroit 112-101 on Sunday. This wasn't some wire-to-wire squeaker either. The Magic were the aggressors the entire game, keeping the Pistons' loaded roster on their heels the whole way.

Banchero Put on a Postseason Clinic

Here's what stood out: Banchero dropped 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the Game 1 victory. That's the kind of two-way performance that wins playoff basketball, especially when you're the road team facing the league's number one seed. The Magic didn't just beat Detroit, they beat them convincingly, and now the Pistons have to go back home feeling the pressure.

Detroit's Perfect Run Hits a Speed Bump

This was Detroit's first loss of the series, and for a top seed, dropping Game 1 at home changes the entire dynamic. The Pistons have all the talent in the world, but Orlando just proved that seeding doesn't guarantee anything in the playoffs. The Magic showed up ready to compete, and the Pistons couldn't match their intensity.

Game 1 is everything in a seven-game series. Orlando has the confidence, the momentum, and now a 1-0 lead heading into what should be a battle royal for the rest of this matchup. Detroit's got to regroup fast, or this could get ugly real quick for a number one seed.
