Pepe Says He's 'Always Available' For Real Madrid, But Ricardo Carvalho Is The Shock Frontrunner

Dude, you gotta hear this. Our man Pepe, the legendary Real Madrid defender, just laced up for the Real Madrid Legends squad against Inter Milan Legends last night and even bagged a goal in their 2-1 win! But honestly, his performance on the pitch wasn't even the biggest story. After the game, he dropped some absolute bombshells to the media about Jose Mourinho, the new signings, and yeah, his own future with the club. Talk about keeping us on the edge of our seats, right?

Mourinho's Return and Pepe's Backing

Pepe, ever the loyal servant, didn't hold back on his thoughts about Jose Mourinho returning as Real Madrid's manager. He's all about unity, telling reporters, "The most important thing is that the club is united. It was a crucial moment to foster that unity between the club, the fans and players." And get this, he calls Mourinho "a key figure in ensuring everyone is on the same page and to help Madrid return to glory." That's a ringing endorsement if I've ever heard one! Pepe genuinely believes Real Madrid can snatch up some serious trophies next season with Mourinho at the helm. He even went as far as to confidently declare, "I am sure Real Madrid will win titles again." You gotta love that conviction!

The Assistant Role and New Blood

Now, here's where it gets wild. There's been all this buzz about Pepe joining Mourinho's coaching staff as an assistant, right? Mourinho himself is apparently pushing for a former club player, someone who commands respect in the locker room and can bring people together. That sounds like Pepe to a T! But when asked directly, Pepe played it cool, saying, "It’s all speculation. I woke up one morning and wondered what was going on, I hadn’t heard a thing." Yet, later, he totally left the door open: "When we talk about Madrid, I am always very grateful. You never know. If someone needs me, like today, to play and help people, I am always available for Madrid.” What a tease! Turns out, though, Ricardo Carvalho is actually the frontrunner for that assistant coach spot right now, ahead of Pepe. Crazy, right? Beyond the coaching drama, Pepe also weighed in on Real Madrid's new center-back, Ibrahima Konate. He likes what he sees, straight up saying, "I like Ibrahima Konate. I hope he’s better than me. It would be a sign that things are going well in Madrid and that we’re winning trophies. That’s what I want.” Talk about a high bar! And as for the rumored signing of Bernardo Silva, who's apparently a free agent? Pepe just said, "Bernardo Silva has a lot of quality. I don’t know if it’s a possibility but the President knows what’s best for the squad." Typical veteran response, deflecting to the brass. But hey, it’s exciting to hear the legends weighing in on the future of the club! It's clear Real Madrid is in a pivotal moment, with a new era kicking off under Mourinho and some fresh faces in the squad. With players like Pepe still so invested and vocal, you just know the drama and excitement are gonna be off the charts. We'll be watching every step of the way, ready to see if those titles really do come rolling in!
