Peter Schrager's Getting His Own ESPN Show and It's About to Shake Up the Entire Daily Schedule

ESPN is making massive moves. After bringing "The Pat McAfee Show" into the fold, the network is reshaping its afternoon lineup in a big way, and Peter Schrager is the lead candidate to anchor a brand new 2 p.m. ET slot.

Here's what's happening: ESPN killed "Around the Horn" back in May 2025 after its final episode aired. That show used to own the 5 p.m. time slot. Now SportsCenter is running at 5 p.m., and ESPN is eyeing that afternoon window for something fresh. According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, a Peter Schrager led show is the likely winner for that 2 p.m. hour, right after McAfee wraps up his noon to 2 p.m. broadcast.

Schrager Has Been Everywhere on ESPN

This isn't coming out of nowhere. Schrager has been absolutely everywhere on the network. He's been a regular on "Get Up," "NFL Live," and McAfee's program. The move that really matters? He filled in for Mike Greenberg hosting "Get Up," and that audition convinced the decision makers that he's ready to lead his own show. The guy has made a serious impression.

The New Look ESPN Afternoon

If this goes through, here's how the schedule shapes up: McAfee goes from noon to 2 p.m., Schrager takes over at 2 p.m., and SportsCenter continues to hold down the 5 p.m. slot, which has been pulling strong ratings since it landed there a year ago. It's a completely different energy than what ESPN had before, and it signals that the network is betting big on both McAfee and Schrager.

Nothing is locked in yet, though. ESPN declined to comment, and no decisions are final. But the reporting is clear: Schrager is the guy they want. Watch this space.
