Pistons Complete Improbable Game 7 Rout of Magic, Escape First-Round Disaster

The Detroit Pistons just pulled off one of those moments you'll be talking about for years. Down 3-1 in the series, they rattled off three straight wins, capped by a dominant Game 7 performance Sunday to put away the Orlando Magic and avoid what would have been an absolutely brutal first-round exit. The top seed in the East? Yeah, they nearly got bounced early. Instead, Cade Cunningham and the Pistons are moving on.

The Impossible Comeback

Think about what just happened here. The Pistons were staring down elimination after Game 4. Most teams fold. Most teams go home. Not this group. Three consecutive victories, including Sunday's blowout in Game 7, flipped the entire script. That's the kind of mental toughness that makes runs in the playoffs. The Magic had every opportunity to end this in six games. They didn't. Detroit made them pay for it.

Cunningham Leads the Way

Cade Cunningham was the driving force behind this turnaround. When the Pistons needed someone to step up and deliver in must-win situations, he was there. That's what separates good players from great ones. The top seed doesn't come back from 3-1 down without their best player showing up when it matters most. Game 7 was no exception. Cunningham's performance Sunday was the signature moment of this series.

The Pistons are alive. The Magic are going home. Sometimes in sports, that's all that matters.
