Real Salt Lake Is Coming Home Saturday and Sporting KC Has No Idea What's About to Hit Them
Real Salt Lake is rolling into this weekend matchup against Sporting Kansas City with serious momentum, and they're getting ready to make a statement at home. The two clubs clash on Saturday, April 4 at America First Field in Sandy, with kickoff set for 2:30 PM. This is a deeply rooted rivalry between Western Conference foes, and RSL is primed to keep the good vibes going.
Diego Luna Is on Another Level Right Now
The RSL superstar has been absolutely electric this season. Luna earned USMNT call-ups from head coach Mauricio Pochettino, competed in November friendlies against World Cup qualifiers, and was named a finalist for multiple 2025 MLS year-end awards. But the real kicker? He won the 2025 Golden Boot and was honored as the recipient of the 2025 Audi Goals Drive Progress Impact Award, which recognizes MLS players dedicated to driving positive change both on and off the pitch. This guy is operating on a different frequency right now.

Luna isn't carrying this team alone. Nine RSL organizational representatives competed for their respective national teams during the November FIFA window, including midfielder Braian Ojeda representing Paraguay. The locker room culture here is winning, and it shows. Captain Rafael Cabral swept Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors, earning the nickname "Iron Man" for his reliability and grit.
Time to Prove It Again
Sporting Kansas City is walking into enemy territory on Saturday, and Real Salt Lake is hungry. This is the kind of matchup where teams with swagger take care of business at home, and everything about RSL's recent run suggests they're ready to do exactly that. The question isn't whether RSL can keep this hot streak alive, it's how badly they want to embarrass the visiting squad.
