Seahawks Land F. Mauigoa at Pick 10: How Seattle's Draft Day Started

The Seahawks are building, and the 2026 NFL Draft just gave us our first real look at how Mike Macdonald and Brian Fleury plan to reshape this roster. Seattle went offensive line early, snagging F. Mauigoa, an OT from Miami, with the 10th overall pick. That's a statement right there: they're protecting Sam Darnold's blindside from day one.

Going Big Up Front

When you're picking in the top 10, you're sending a message about what your team needs. The Seahawks clearly identified the offensive line as priority number one. Mauigoa out of Miami brings size and athleticism to a position that can make or break your offense. With Darnold under center, keeping him upright has to be the foundation of everything Brian Fleury wants to build on offense.

The Seahawks had the 10th pick and didn't hesitate. No trading back, no reaching for a flashy skill position. Just solid, unglamorous work in the trenches. That's Macdonald football.

What Comes Next

Seattle still has draft picks coming. C. Downs, a safety from Ohio State, went 11th overall just after the Seahawks, giving you a sense of how the board is moving. The draft board is fluid, and the Hawks have multiple selections to work with as they continue to fill holes in the secondary and across the roster.

This team is clearly in a building phase. The moves so far tell you that protection and defense are the priorities. When you're picking this early, you're not loading up on stars. You're playing long term, thinking about the foundation, and thinking about what Sam Darnold needs to succeed in his first year in Seattle.
