The Seattle Seahawks were not satisfied with the linebacker play they had early in the season, and they decided to trade Jerome Baker with a late round pick to the Titans for Ernest Jones IV...
So far, it looks like this trade might've been a smart move by the Seahawks all things considered.
The Seahawks have been awful in the run defense game, and Ernest Jones IV is one of the top-tier linebackers when it comes to the run, so this should help the team.
A four-year veteran, Jones has 44 tackles through six games. He is coming off a 2023 season that saw him set career highs with 145 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and six pass breakups.
This is the second time Jones, 24, has been traded this year. The Titans acquired him from the Rams in August, sending a 2026 fifth-round pick to Los Angeles for Jones and a 2026 sixth-round selection.
This week he made it clear why the Seahawks made this move, as he had the best PFF grading on the Seahawks defense.
A positive sign from the Seahawks game on Sunday was also new LB Ernest Jones IV.

He was Top 5 in LB grades all through PFF, and stood out as one of the bright spots in the game for the Seahawks defense.
Great move 🔥

He was also one of the best linebackers on PFF grading in the entire NFL this week.

🔹 85.7 run defense grade (3rd)

Safe to say this was a good move by the Seahawks and hopefully he becomes a staple of this defense that keeps getting better recently.
