Could this be the end of the road for Jorge Polanco with the Seattle Mariners? Well, it sure looks like it could be. According to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times, the Mariners are expected to take the decision to decline the team option for Jorge Polanco. This is not a 100% decision yet and the team could change its course. Polanco was a big acquisition during the last off-season and was a former all-star during his time with the Minnesota Twins.
Accounting for Mitch Haniger's option, the Mariners have $96.4 million guaranteed on their roster. That number goes up to $108.4 million if Jorge Polanco's option is picked up, $97.1 million if it's declined

If the Mariners do decline the option, this will save the Mariners about $12 million in salary for the 2025 season. But, this would open up big question marks at the second base position and have the team returning to the market for a second baseman.
Polanco did not have the hottest start to the season with the Mariners, but his bat got much better in September, and having him back would at least not have us in the market looking to fill second base.
