The Seattle Mariners played one of their best games in a while, yet, lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-3. It felt like it was going good for a while, even got some breaks that I did not expect...
Andrés Muñoz gives up a three-run homer in the 8th and the Mariners are down 6-3, just like that.
I will give the Mariners and Scott Servais some credit, they feel like the fans now. They know the season is on the line at this point, and they put in Andrés Muñoz in the 7th and kept him in the 8th. It just didn't work out.
Usually I have major complaints when I log onto this post-game blog, this time, it's hard to have too many. The Mariners bats did alright, they weren't awful, and the pitching was great all the way up to the Jason Hayward pinch-hit homer in the 8th.
Mariners had 8 hits and got 3 runs out it, the bats were better than expected today, but it just was not enough.
Today is not the day to yell about firing Scott Servais, or clearing house, but it's getting to the point of the season where that is just what needs to happen at the end of the season.
These past two years have been a major disappointment, and it is time for a change, and a new voice, a new GM, all of it. The Mariners need to clear house, but that's not just about today. That's about a major let down over the last two years.
The Houston Astros lost, but the Mariners will still be 5 games behind the Astros, and 6.5 games back of the last wild card team.
It's over this year, that's the sad truth, the only thing that can save us is one of those insanely hot 5-7 game winning streak.
See y'all tomorrow, I hope we can get one win at least... Then again, if not, it is what it is.
