Shohei Ohtani's ERA Is Absurdly Low Right Now, and the Giants Have No Answer

The Los Angeles Dodgers are done playing around. Shohei Ohtani just threw a complete shutout performance, lowering his ERA to 0.82 as the Dodgers blanked the San Francisco Giants, snapping a brutal four-game losing streak in the process. This is the kind of dominant pitching that changes the entire complexion of a season.

Ohtani Is Operating at Another Level

An ERA of 0.82? That's the kind of number that makes you do a double-take. Ohtani is pitching at a level that puts him in historic company right now. The Giants came into this game looking for anything they could get against the Dodgers, but they ran straight into a buzzsaw. The Dodgers' offense backed up the elite pitching with a complete shutout, leaving San Francisco with nothing on the board.

LA Needed This Win Bad

Four straight losses will put pressure on any team in baseball. The Dodgers weren't just looking for a W, they needed to remind themselves and everyone watching that they're still the team to beat. With Ohtani on the mound performing at this level, the rest of the rotation has to be feeling the weight of his excellence. This wasn't close. This wasn't a nail-biter. This was the Dodgers saying we're back, and we're not messing around.

The Giants are heading back to the Bay with a loss, and the Dodgers get to breathe a little easier knowing they've got someone capable of shutting down anyone on any given night. That's the kind of security blanket a championship contender needs.
