Silence in the Emerald City? The Sports World Is Exploding With Non-Seattle News Right Now.

You guys feel it? That quiet hum in the air? It's not just the early April chill, it's the sound of the entire sports world talking about literally anything but our teams. Seriously, I just scrolled through the "latest news" and I'm staring at a list of headlines that scream everything but green and blue. While we're out here bleeding Emerald City colors, it feels like the rest of the country has completely forgotten about the Mariners, the Seahawks, and the Kraken kicking off their seasons.

Brawls, Baskets, and Carolina's Cup: What Everyone Else Is Watching

So, what's got everyone so hyped up that they can't spare a second for us? Apparently, a whole lot of UFC action from a "White House Main Event," which, okay, I guess that's a thing? Justin Gaethje pulled off an "ALL TIME Upset" over Ilia Topuria, and Ciryl Gane put Alex Pereira out on his feet in the co-main. Other headlines shout about Josh Hokit destroying Derrick Lewis and Mauricio Ruffy beating Michael Chandler then proposing to his girlfriend right there. Diego Lopes and Bo Nickal also landed "HUGE Knockouts." It sounds like an absolute circus, complete with a Donald Trump walkout and a rain delay for "UFC Freedom 250." Wild stuff, for sure.

And if you’re not into the octagon, the New York Knicks just capped off a championship run. I’m seeing headlines about "Goosebumps, Tears, And Sidetalk Maniacs" regarding their championship videos and edits. Fans took to the streets, singing "Empire State of Mind." Jalen Brunson apparently has "big goals" like getting on SVU, and coaches like Mike Brown were chanting "Who Let The Dogs Out." Even Victor Wembanyama is making noise, though it sounds like it's for disappearing when the Spurs needed him most and refusing to shake hands. Oh, and the Carolina Hurricanes are your 2026 Stanley Cup Champions after "one of the most dominant runs" in the playoffs. Good for them, I guess.

Where's Our Story? No Love for the Green and Blue.

But seriously, where’s the love for the green and blue? We're in early regular season mode for MLB and NFL is getting ready! We should be deep-diving into how Julio Rodriguez is tracking those fly balls in center, or if Cal Raleigh's bat is catching fire early. For the Seahawks, where's the buzz around Sam Darnold's early chemistry with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed, or Cooper Kupp? Are we seeing any glimpses of Matty Beniers' next-level play for the Kraken, or Vince Dunn and Adam Larsson shutting down opponents on defense? We've got Jordan Eberle leading the charge, and guys like Jared McCann and Chandler Stephenson bringing the heat. We’re looking for those first glimpses of what makes this season special for us, and the national chatter is just... elsewhere.

Even our Sounders, with Cristian Roldan getting call-ups, should be getting some love. It's April, folks. The season is young for the M's, and the Hawks are getting ready for their next big push. We can't let the noise from the rest of the country distract us from what truly matters here in the Emerald City. Our teams are grinding, and we're watching every pitch, every snap, every shift. Let's keep that 12s energy high and make sure our story gets told, even if the national headlines are elsewhere. We'll be here, covering every second of it. We've got another chance to make noise right around the corner.
