Stankoven's Two Goals Send Hurricanes Past Flyers in Game 1, Second Round Now Live

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are rolling into Round 2 and it's already getting spicy. Carolina's Stankoven just went off for two goals to lead the Hurricanes past Philadelphia in Game 1, and honestly, that's the kind of statement win you want when the stakes get this high. The second round is officially underway, and the intensity is about to crank up even more.

Hurricanes Make Their Statement

Andersen was locked in between the pipes for Carolina, posting a shutout to seal Game 1 against the Flyers. That's playoff hockey right there. Stankoven extending his playoff goal streak with two of his own tells you everything about where the Hurricanes are right now. Blake added another beauty on the backhand to pile on, and Philadelphia had no answers. This is the kind of dominant first game that sets the tone for an entire series.

The Second Round Brackets Are Set

The first round delivered some wild finishes. Buffalo knocked out Boston in Game 6, their first series win since 2007. Vegas and Utah went the distance before the Golden Knights took Game 6 at center ice. Tampa Bay and Montreal are headed to Game 7 after Vasilevskiy locked down a 30-save shutout performance in Game 6 to force the decider. The Oilers fell short against Anaheim, and that's a huge upset nobody saw coming at the start of the playoffs.

What's Coming Next

The matchups are locked in now. The Ducks are taking on Vegas in the Western Conference second round after their run through Edmonton. Minnesota is facing Colorado out West. Lightning and Canadiens still have Game 7 hanging over their heads to determine who advances. The playoff intensity is ramping up fast, and every game matters now.
