Texas A&M Lands Loyola Marymount Transfer Jalen Shelley After College Station Visit

Jalen Shelley is heading to College Station. The Loyola Marymount forward committed to Texas A&M on Sunday after visiting campus, according to On3, and suddenly the Aggies have a proven scorer on their roster.

Shelley, a Little Elm, Texas native, just wrapped up a strong season with the Lions. Over 25 games (all starts), he put up 13.7 points per game to go with 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He shot 45.7% from the field, showing real consistency. This is a significant step up from his freshman year at USC, where he averaged just 2.0 points and 1.4 rebounds in 22 games (one start) during the 2024-25 season.

The jump from USC to Loyola Marymount and now to the SEC tells you everything about Shelley's development. He came off the bench at USC as a freshman and barely factored into the rotation. Fast forward one year, and he's a full-time starter putting up double figures and knocking down nearly half his shots from the field. That kind of improvement is exactly what coaching staffs dream about in a transfer portal addition.

For Texas A&M, landing a forward who can score and rebound while shooting efficiently gives them a trustworthy piece moving forward. Shelley's weekend visit clearly left the right impression, and the Aggies weren't letting him walk out of College Station without a commitment.
