Ranking The Top 25 Logos In Seattle Sports History
There have been many great logos in the history of Seattle Sports. The rules are simple, we ranked logos from all the professional sports teams (no minor league affiliates) and logos from the Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars. So here they are, the top 25 logos in Seattle sports history.
25. 1970 Seattle Sonics Logo
Classic Seattle Supersonics logo here but nothing to talk about that makes this extra special. No offense to the designer of this but most of us with some sort of imagination could probably put this one together.
24. 2000-2015 Seattle Storm Logo
This Seattle Storm logo gives you shades and reminders of the 1990s Seattle Sonics logo so it’s a reminder of good times. Reason it’s rated so low is because it just feels like a copy of the Sonics logo.
23. 1959-1971 Washington Huskies Logo
This logo is pretty fun. It feels like a nostalgic picture of good times. Maybe this should have been rated higher but the ability to put this logo on merchandise or hats brings it down the list a little bit.
22. 2002-2011 Seattle Seahawks Logo
This Seahawks logo is alright at best. I think the reason for its rating being so low is because it replaced the best colorway of the Seattle Seahawks. And not just that, but the jerseys were probably the worst Seahawks jerseys we ever had.
21. 1977 Seattle Mariners Logo
Interesting way to start off a team’s history. The Mariners went with a yellow circle but it was saved by the trident at least. The words “baseball club” do add a nice touch here.
20. The Seattle Metropolitans Logo
The Seattle Metropolitans might be forgotten by some. But the logo is beautiful for the late 1910s and 1920s. And I still believe the city should have gone with the name “Metropolitans” rather than the Kraken.
19. 1983 Seattle Sounders Logo
This logo has some unique features that got it on the list. The giant soccer ball resembling the KingDome made this logo pop to me.
18. 2001 Seattle Sonics Logo
This isn’t the best nor the worst Seattle Supersonics logo in the history of the franchise. The colorway is great, and a little bit of a retro feel in the 2000s was cool. But it didn’t feel necessary the late 90s logo was better and the 1975-1995 logo was better as well.
17. 2024 Seattle Sounders Logo
The Seattle Sounders really did a great job with this logo. It’s clean, modern, and simple. The Sounders however left some extra details that would make it better.
16. 1967 Seattle Sonics Logo
Great concept for the 1960s here. The needle or arrow in the logo makes it sure feel like it was dedicated to the Space Needle.
15. Present Seattle Kraken logo
The Seattle Kraken logo is a SOLID logo. Nothing amazing but the details are fine. The one thing I do love about the logo is the red which makes the giant “S” look like an eye looking at you.
14. 2012-Present Seattle Seahawks logo
The present day Seattle Seahawks logo is nice. It’s solid. But it’s not the original logo of the Seattle Seahawks which to me is the best logo in Seahawks history.
13. 1995-2001 Washington Huskies logo
This is a beautiful logo for the Washington Huskies. The big “dawg” in front of the “W” was a nice touch and a great look for the Huskies.
12. 2016-Present Washington Huskies logo
The Washington Huskies present day logo is classy. Yes, it’s pretty simple but for a University this is a great logo to have on merchandise and helmets.
11. 1971 Seattle Supersonics logo
The font on this logo is what really stands out here. And the Seattle and Super in small letters is a great touch. This logo will forever be loved despite not being in the top 10.
10. Seattle Pilots Logo
The Seattle Pilots didn’t last long in Seattle Sports history but their colors and logo sure are beautiful. The wings and the red wheel are beautiful touches. An iconic logo that unfortunately didn’t have enough time to shine in Seattle.
9. 1981 Seattle Mariners logo
The trident for the Mariners logo was a great design and we’ve seen it make its comeback in recent years. A classy logo with some great jerseys with this version of the Seattle Mariners logo.
8. 1974-2015 Seattle Sounders logo
This logo was classy and cool. I love that the green faded to blue as it was now “under water”. The logo featured a nice colorway and great design.
7. Present Day Seattle Mariners logo
The present day Seattle Mariners logo is plain and simply cool. The compass is a great touch and all the alternative logos that derive from it are great too. No complaints here about this great logo.
6. 1994-2001 Seattle Supersonics logo
A logo that touches the hearts of Seattle sports fans. This team brought the city together and the logo was perfect branding for 1990s Seattle.
5. 1995-Present Washington State Cougars Logo
The Washington State Cougars are technically not from Seattle. But since so many people living in Seattle went to WSU I thought it was good to count them in. This logo looks even better when you realize the letters “W” “S” U” actually draw out the Cougar.
4. 1979-1983 Washington Huskies logo
The Washington Huskies have had many different logos. But this logo hits home for Huskies fans. A perfect rendition of the Husky behind a great colored “W”. The best Huskies logo of all time.
3. 1976-2001 Seattle Seahawks logo
The original Seahawks logo isn’t far off from today’s logo. But the colorway was magnificent. And that’s why fans until today get excited about throwback helmets and uniforms. A perfect colorway that never needed to be replaced.
2. 1987-1992 Seattle Mariners Logo
The logo probably doesn’t get talked about enough. But in reality this logo is great. The colorway, and the way the “M” is written in a baseball makes it a great logo for hats and merchandise too and would love the Mariners to bring it back in use at times.
1.1975-1994 Seattle Supersonics logo
The crown jewel of Seattle sports logos. The Seattle skyline in a half a basketball, how perfect can perfect get? If and when the Seattle Sonics do come back, I sure hope we can convince the ownership to use this logo again.
