Freddie Freeman's Blast Lifts Dodgers Past Braves in May Showdown

The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting the job done in the early going, and Freddie Freeman just gave them another reason to feel good about where they're headed. Freeman went deep to lead the Dodgers to a 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves, a victory that keeps the momentum rolling in what's shaping up to be a competitive stretch of baseball.

Freeman Does His Thing

This is what you get with Freeman in your lineup. The guy delivered the big hit when it mattered, sending a homer that proved to be the difference in a tight contest. The Braves scraped together a run, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with a Dodgers offense that got just enough firepower at the right moment.

Solid Pitching Holds Up

The Dodgers got exactly what they needed on the mound too. Alex Vesia picked up the win, while Tanner Scott locked down the save. On the flip side, Chris Sale took the loss for Atlanta, a reminder that even star pitchers have games where they can't get over the hump. The Braves mustered 9 hits but could only scratch out 1 run, which tells you everything about the execution gap in this one.

Freeman's homer and strong pitching performances like this are the building blocks of a team that's clicking right now. For the Dodgers, it's another step forward. For the Braves, it's a frustrating reminder that opportunities slip away fast in May.
