It's not every week that teams argue about the disadvantage of the schedule that they have been placed to.... But even as a Seahawks fan, this time I tend to agree with the 49ers complaints about this one.
The 49ers are coming off a short week playing the Sunday game in the Wild Card, in Philadelphia, so ending late in the east coast with travel... Well, the NFL ended up giving them a SATURDAY game to follow it up, while the Seahawks had their bye week.
Even 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he expected a Saturday game, 'but if the NFL understanding, they'll make it Sunday.' Well they did not listen and made it another Saturday short-week game.
Here is a CRAZY stat:
The Seahawks last played on January 3 (will have been 13 days between games).
The 49ers played on Sunday (5 days between games).
Since 1984, teams to have as big of a rest advantage heading into a playoff matchup as the Seahawks do all won their game (7-0).
So as a Seahawks fan, it's looking good, and I will take the joy of winning if it happens, but I have to be fair and say that the schedule for the 49ers has been a ride.
