The Seattle Seahawks did Seattle Seahawks things today, they kept the game nerve-racking, they kept it interesting, but found a way to win the game. The Seahawks start the year 2-0 after beating the New England Patriots 23-20 in overtime, and this has some great statistical implications.
Stats don't mean everything, but there is something really important about starting the season 2-0. Since 1990, teams to start the season 2-0 make the playoffs in the NFL 63.8% of the time. It sounds too simple, but it's true, 2-0, and you have better than a 50/50 chance to make it to the postseason.
2-0 teams since 1990…. 63.8% of them make the playoffs.

Seahawks starting off 2-0 is GREAT.
The Seahawks won this game despite many factors that were not in their favor. They came into the game without star RB Kenneth Walker, and starting RG George Fant. The offensive line in general was shuffling all game, and they struggling to find any group that was working great together. Yet, the Seahawks dealt with the ups-and-downs of BOTH the offense and defense, and once again found a way to pull off a great win.
It felt somewhat similar to the Week 1, 26-20, victory against the Denver Broncos. It also felt eerily similar to the Seattle Seahawks of the past 10 years. Offensive line play was bad, they found a way to lose a lead, but then they find a way to win it in the 4th quarter.
Pete Carroll would truly be proud of the way this game played out... While it also happened to be the ex-Seahawks coach's 73rd birthday today. So maybe after-all, this was in honor of Pete.
What really stood out today was different than last week, last week it stood out that the defense is going to be elite under Mike Macdonald. Today, it stood out that Seahawks QB Geno Smith is truly putting together some elite games, and finding ways to use his star wide receivers.
Geno Smith: 33/44 (75%) with 327 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions, and a 103.1 QB rating.
DK Metcalf: 10 catches ,129 yards 1 touchdown [56 yard TD] & 12.9 yards per catch.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba: 12 catches, 117 yards, & 9.8 yards per catch.
The Seahawks offense wasn't pretty all game, but they found a way to make it count when it mattered, and they found a way to pull off a great overtime win. That's all you can ask for.
2-0. That has a nice ring to it.
2-0 Seahawks.

No matter what happens today. The Seahawks will be 1st place in the NFC West 🚨 pic.twitter.com/4lErSW0yyg
Oh yeah, and the Seahawks will be the only 2-0 team in the NFC West, sitting at 1st place all alone in the division.
