When you think of the University of Washington football team, purple and gold are the colors you expect to see. Except sometimes for big one-off events, the football team can feature a new color and that seems to be the case for the black helmet the school unveiled on Thursday. The Huskies, who used to never veer off from their traditional colors, have begun to experiment with different game-day looks over the course of the past decade.

The last time UW wore black helmets and all-black uniforms was back in 2020 against Arizona in a 44-27 win. However, that was done in an empty Husky Stadium back in the COVID days.
The Huskies, as of late, have tried some newer looks, ditching the traditional helmets only. Some have been met with huge fanfare and some fans, plain and simple, didn't love them.
Overall, I am a fan of mixing them up at times. I do love traditional looks and love the purple and gold of the Huskies, but having one or two more unique looks throughout the season is a great way to mix them up.Better look at the helmets UW will wear Saturday vs ASU: pic.twitter.com/QRMS9LooCD
