The Worst Quarterbacks Of The 2000s
Every NFL team has had a clunker at QB for at least a few games. And these players usually never see the field again. Here are the worst QBs to start a game this century.
Arizona Cardinals - Max Hall
Hall was undrafted in 2010. He had to start three games and threw 6 INTs to just 1 TD. He had a 35.7 passer rating and never played again.
Atlanta Falcons- Danny Kanell
In 2000, Danny Kanell got some spot starts for the Falcons. Well, he couldn't move the ball or provide any spark to the offense. 53.2 passer rating it was a forgettable stint.
Baltimore Ravens- Troy Smith
Troy Smith was a Heisman winner but not an NFL QB. He had a few starts in 2007 and completed under 49% of his passes. He never became a legit starting QB in the NFL.
Buffalo Bills- Nathan Peterman
He was a legend for his disaster of play. In his first start, he threw 5 INTs in the first half alone. He finished his time in Buffalo with 3 TDs to 12 INTs.
Carolina Panthers- Jimmy Clausen
His 2010 rookie season was a mess to say the least. He had a 1-9 record and had 3 TDs to 9 INTs. He was overwhelmed from day one.
Chicago Bears- Jonathan Quinn
He started three games for the Bears in 2004. He threw just one TD. He looked lost in the pocket and was out of the NFL shortly after.
Cincinnati Bengals- Akili Smith
He was a bust in every sense of the word. He had just 5 TDs in his NFL career and 13 INTs. His biggest problems were both his mechanics and decision making.
Cleveland Browns- DeShone Kizer
He went 0-15 as a starter in the NFL. If that wasn't bad enough he led the NFL in interceptions and never got a shot to be a starter again.

Forgotten in the historic downfall of Ryan Leaf was he got a chance with the Cowboys. He had three starts in 2001 and had 1 TD to 3 INTs. Another mess for Ryan Leaf.
Denver Broncos- Kendall Hinton
He was a practice squad WR. But was forced to start at QB due to COVID issues with the Broncos. He went 1-9 with two INTS. One of the most wildest moments in NFL history.
Detroit Lions- Dan Orlovsky
He is known for infamously running out of the back of the end zone. He helped the Lions secure a 0-16 season and was rock bottom for the franchise.
Green Bay Packers- Brett Hundley
A injury to Aaron Rodgers forced Hundley to start a game. He went 3-6 in 9 games and 12 INTs and looked lost under center.
Houston Texans- David Carr
Carr had no protection and never developed. He was sacked 76 times in 2002. His confidence was shook and never recovered.
Indianapolis Colts- Curtis Painter
In 2011 he went 0-8 as a starter. He threw more INTs than TDs and helped the team tank to the worst record in the NFL.
Jacksonville Jaguars- Blaine Gabbert
He was the 10th overall pick in 2011. He was inaccurate and looked lost. He posted a 50.8 passer rating and never became a good starter.

He started 11 games in 2008 for the Chiefs. He ended up going 1-10 with 12 INTs. He never looked like a legit starting NFL QB.

Russell might be the biggest bust in NFL history. He posted a 50 passer rating, fumbled a ton and was benched and out of the league.

A Chargers QB that you might never forget. He played a few games in the early 2000s and had a 0-2 record and no impact.
Los Angeles Rams- Keith Null
Back in 2009, Null started 4 games for the Rams. He threw 9 INTs to 3 TDs and had a passer rating of just 49.9.
Miami Dolphins- John Beck
He was a second round pick in 2007. He went 0-4 and never threw a single TD. He looked shocked from the moment he stepped on the NFL field.
Minnesota Vikings- Josh Freeman
He had one infamous game for the Vikings on Monday Night Football. It was a horror show where he looked unprepared and it was a disaster.

Great nickname for this Steelers QB. But, bad QB. He started 6 games in 2019 and threw 8 TDs to 5 INTs.
San Francisco 49ers- J.T. O'Sullivan
He turned over the ball 17 times in just 9 starts. Sacked 32 times in 2008. Sullivan was not an NFL caliber QB.
Seattle Seahawks- Charlie Whitehurst
He was known as clip-board Jesus. He was traded for a third round pick but never really showed he could be a starting QB. 5 starts and just 2 TD passes for the Seattle Seahawks.

In Freeman's second stint with the Buccaneers he started three games in 2013. He completed under 45% of his passes and was a disaster.
