Every MLB has a player that might be pretty good but 100% overrated. Whether that is overrated by the fans, media or just plain too much hype. Here's the most overrated player of every MLB team in recent memory.

He was supposed to be a 30-30 guy as the number one overall pick. But he was just in frequent power slumps and never made it to his full potential.
Atlanta Braves- Nick Markaksis

He was consistent but many would have made you believe he is a star. He played 12 seasons in Atlanta and was a good consistent player at best.
Baltimore Orioles-Brady Anderson

One huge year for the Orioles. But we all know why he had 50+ home runs in a season one time in his career.
Boston Red Sox- Jacoby Ellsbury

He had an amazing 104 steal season in 2011. But after signing a huge deal he never lived back to lofty heights.
Chicago Cubs- Mark Prior

He was the 2002 rookie of the year. He was supposed to be the next Tom Seaver but injuries derailed his career.

He was brought in to be the heir apparent for Paul Konerko. But he just hit .228/.328/.428 over two seasons.
Cincinnati Reds- Jay Bruce

He had a 2013 All-Star berth but was going to be a huge clean up hitter. He did have power but was streaky and batting .225 in his career.

After a huge 2016 where he won 22 games. He regressed and had a 4.98 ERA the rest of his next 4 seasons in Detroit
Houston Astros- Carlos Correa

He was supposed to the next big thing at short stop. But he had decline in power and was out of Houston as a free agent.
Kansas City Royals- Alex Gordon

Yes he was good. And he even helped them win a World Series. He was always solid but never a full on superstar.

Los Angels Dodgers- Yaisel Puig

He did bring power and excitement. But he never lived up to the hype he had. He had just a .281 OBP in LA.
Miami Marlins- Josh Johnson

Johnson was dubbed as a future Cy Young award candidate. Instead he struggled and had over a 4.00 ERA in his time in Miami.
Milwaukee Brewers- Ryan Braun

Minnesota Twins- Michael Cuddyer

He was rewarded with a big contract. But during his time with the Twins he posted just a .716 OPS.
New York Mets- Matt Harvey

Harvey burst on the scene with charisma and great pitching. However, he faded for a variety of reasons and never lived up to his hot start.

Pittsburgh Pirates- Kris Benson

He was the 1996 1st overall pick and was supposed to be an ace. He never posted an ERA below 4.50 in Pittsburgh.
San Diego Padres- Matt Kemp

He had 39 HRs and was runner up MVP in LA. But in San Diego he was a shell of him self with just .258/.326/.428 in two seasons.
San Francisco Giants- Pablo Sandoval

The "Kung Fu Panda" was a hero in Boston. But his time with the Giants was a disaster and was gone within two seasons.
Seattle Mariners- Kyle Seager

Don't get us wrong here, Kyle Seager was a great Seattle Mariners and fan favorite. But he slashed .245/.319/.409 and his career and his most HRs in a season was 22. He was steady but not a star.
