Jocelyn Medina Averaged 22.8 Points and Nobody in the Pac-12 Is Ready For It

Hold up, Zags fans! Coach Lisa Fortier and the Gonzaga women's basketball squad delivered some serious news that's gonna have the new-look Pac-12 sweating. Already rocking almost the exact same roster that snagged them a WCC Tournament championship and a No. 12 seed, they've now officially landed their second transfer portal commitment: Denver guard Jocelyn Medina! This is a massive move for the Bulldogs, and it just made their already stacked roster even scarier.

The Zags Are Already Loaded

Seriously, the Zags are already loaded, folks! We're talking ten key players back on the court, a championship core that just won a WCC Tournament title and earned a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Think about it, WCC Player of the Year Lauren Whittaker, First Team guard Allie Turner, and WCC Sixth Woman of the Year Jaiden Haile are all returning. Plus, starters Zee Aokuso and Taylor Smith are locked in, alongside key reserves Teryn Gardner, Julia Wilson, and McKynnlie Dalan. This squad is built to challenge Oregon State, Colorado State, and San Diego State in the new Pac-12 in 2026-27. They'd already added Rider transfer Emmy Roach and incoming freshman Abby Lusk, but Medina? This is the final piece of the puzzle, bringing the roster to 13 players, exactly the number they rolled with last year. The staff is putting the finishing touches on what looks like a powerhouse!

Jocelyn Medina's Explosive Stats Tell a Story

So, who is Jocelyn Medina and why should you be hyped? This 5'6 guard from Arbuckle, CA, isn't just another transfer, my friend. She started her college career at College of the Sequoias where she led her team to a PERFECT 28-0 record! Can you even imagine that? An undefeated season! She was named Co-MVP of her league, averaging an INSANE 22.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 3.3 steals per game. Oh, and she shot a lights-out 44.3% from beyond the arc. Think about that kind of efficiency, 44.3% from deep! While her numbers dipped a bit at Denver in the Summit League, averaging 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals in 19 minutes per game, she showed some serious grit. After a slow start, Medina found her stride late, exploding for eight double-digit performances in her final 12 games. That included a season-high 23 points on a ridiculous 8-10 shooting at North Dakota, and a dominant 21 points, six rebounds, and three assists at Omaha in the regular season finale. This kid can score, rebound, dish, and steal. She's a complete player who knows how to step up when it counts. What does this all mean for the Zags and their future in the new-look Pac-12? Well, last year, Gonzaga saw three key departures from their backcourt, including valuable starter Ines Bettencourt, freshman Paige Lofing, and redshirt senior Vera Gunaydin. Adding Medina directly addresses that need, bringing in a versatile guard who can light it up. Her late-season surge at Denver shows she's ready for prime time. With Coach Fortier completing the roster with talent like this, the Zags are not just entering the Pac-12, they're looking to dominate it. Get ready for an epic 2026-27 season, Emerald City, because these Zags are coming for it all and they just got a whole lot tougher!
