Peter Schrager Is Getting His Own ESPN Show and It's Part of a Massive Network Shakeup

ESPN is making big moves with its daily lineup, and Peter Schrager is the lead candidate to anchor a brand new 2 p.m. show. This comes after the network added "The Pat McAfee Show" to the schedule and killed off "Around the Horn," which had been airing at 5 p.m. since May 2025.

According to reporting from Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, ESPN's plans are coming together fast. Schrager's show would air right after McAfee's program, which runs from noon to 2 p.m. ET. A SportsCenter edition would likely move into the 5 p.m. slot that "Around the Horn" vacated, buoyed by strong ratings since it launched there a year ago.

Why Schrager Is the Obvious Choice

Schrager has been putting in serious work across ESPN's portfolio. He's been a regular on "Get Up," "NFL Live," and McAfee's show. More importantly, he's filled in as host of "Get Up," which apparently convinced producers that he can carry his own daily show. The guy has impressed enough that management is betting on him to lead this new afternoon slot.

The Bigger Picture at ESPN

This isn't just about one new show. ESPN is clearly reshaping its daytime schedule after adding McAfee to the lineup. The network already airs SportsCenter editions at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and now Schrager's show would fill the gap between McAfee and the late afternoon SportsCenter block. It's a coordinated effort to remake the middle of the day.

No final decisions have been locked in yet, though. ESPN declined to comment on the plans, so there's still a chance things could shift. But if Marchand's sources are right, Schrager's about to move from the supporting cast to the lead role.
