Lionel Messi's First-Ever World Cup Hat Trick Reminded the World About His Extraterrestrial Qualities
Alright, Emerald City, listen up! The World Cup is absolutely popping off, and if you weren't glued to your screen, you missed one of those 'talk about it for years' moments. Lionel Messi, yeah, that Messi, delivered his first-ever career hat trick in the FIFA World Cup. Seriously, his first! It was quintessential Messi, reminding everyone watching exactly why they call his talent 'extraterrestrial qualities.' The man still makes you shake your head in disbelief!
Global Showdowns, Pure Drama
Across the globe, the World Cup delivered some insane drama yesterday and today. Ghana pulled off a dramatic 1-0 win over Panama in Group L, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats. Over in Group L, England showed up strong, taking down Croatia with a solid 4-2 victory. Meanwhile, Group K saw Colombia snag a 2-1 lead over Uzbekistan in the 86th minute, with Luis Díaz scoring his first-ever FIFA World Cup goal to put Colombia back in front. Daniel Muñoz even dropped a beauty of a goal to give Colombia the lead, marking Colombia's first goal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup! Uzbekistan wasn't totally shut out though, Abbosbek Fayzullaev scored their first-ever FIFA World Cup goal. And Portugal? They finished with a 1-1 draw against DR Congo. Every match feels like it's got something wild happening, doesn't it?

Team USA Is For Real, Folks
But let's be real, a lot of us are keeping one eye squarely on our own Team USA, and they are absolutely showing up. The USMNT delivered a dominant 4-1 win over Paraguay, and it wasn't even close. Folarin Balogun was on fire, scoring two goals in the first half alone against Paraguay, including one to extend the lead and his first overall! And for good measure, Gio Reyna sealed the deal with a goal in stoppage time. Even Paraguay contributed, with Damián Bobadilla scoring an own goal to give the United States an early lead. You saw Jameis Winston witnessing that crazy win, right? The vibes are high, especially with Pochettino’s USA World Cup plan seemingly coming together at the perfect time. The only real chatter for the US now is making sure Christian Pulisic stays healthy, because we all know the World Cup is a long tournament. The Emerald City knows a thing or two about a strong home-field advantage, and the USMNT is building something special.
So yeah, the World Cup is giving us everything right now. Goals, drama, hat tricks from legends, and a Team USA that looks ready to make some noise. What a time to be a sports fan! Oh, and in case you missed it, the White Sox beat the Yankees 10-5 in MLB. Always something happening, isn't there? Keep those screens locked on the World Cup, 12s, because this ride is far from over!
