The Two Words Jimmy Carrasquillo Said That Tell You Everything

Alright, Seattle fam, grab a brew and listen up! You know we love a good story about dedication and winning in the Emerald City, but sometimes, a legend emerges somewhere else that just demands our respect. We're talking about Coach Jimmy Carrasquillo, the absolute titan leading the Washington-Liberty Generals boys soccer team. This dude just hit his 300th career victory! Can you believe it? Three. Hundred. Wins! This wasn't some fluke either, his Generals straight up blanked the Marshall Statesmen 5-0 in a Liberty District tournament-semifinal match on May 19. That's a huge W, and it cemented him as the undisputed most accomplished public-school soccer coach in all of Arlington. Nobody, and I mean nobody, in Arlington public school history, boys or girls, has ever hit that milestone. What a moment for W-L, right?

A Coaching Legacy Like No Other

Let's break down this incredible run. Of those 300 total career victories, a mind-blowing 282 have come at Washington-Liberty, where Carrasquillo has been coaching since way back in 1999. But even before he built the Generals into a powerhouse, he was making waves. The year before, in 1998, Carrasquillo was the head coach at then-George Mason High School in Falls Church, and he led that squad to a Class A state crown, racking up 18 victories in just one season! That kind of consistent success is just unreal. His 299th career win was a classic too, a 3-1 victory over Wakefield, the team coached by his younger brother, Eddie Carrasquillo. Talk about bragging rights at the family dinner table!

"Why Not?" The Secret to His Hunger

And when asked if he's slowing down after hitting such a massive number? He dropped two simple words: "Why not?" Seriously, that's the kind of fire we love to see in any coach, anywhere. Carrasquillo told ARLnow, "I still have the passion each season to keep coaching, and I look forward to it every season." He’s not even coaching travel soccer year-round, which he says "keeps me hungry to coach high-school soccer at W-L in the springtime." This isn't just a part-time gig for him. The man is 52, a full-time bilingual family specialist at Washington-Liberty, and he put it perfectly: "I can’t see myself working here and not coaching soccer." It’s all tied into the school, into the community. That dedication? It's pure gold. He’s not just a soccer coach, either. The guy is on the football staff for special teams, handling kicking and punting, and even announces boys and girls varsity basketball games during the winter season. Talk about being all-in! So what does this mean for the Generals? With Carrasquillo's passion burning bright, and his 300 wins ranking him among the top 10 for boys soccer coaches in the Virginia High School League's record book, the future looks seriously stacked. He’s been there since 1999, racking up 282 of those wins at W-L. Plus, let's not forget he even snagged a Class A state crown with 18 victories back in '98 at George Mason High. That kind of consistent excellence? It’s inspiring. We're talking about a coach who lives and breathes high school sports, a true local legend who's still hungry for more. You gotta respect that. Generals fans, get ready for more magic, because it sounds like Coach Carrasquillo is just getting started!
