Your Everett Silvertips Are Already Dominating the Memorial Cup, And They're Not Stopping!
Hold up, Emerald City! While you might be glued to the Mariners early season grind, or getting hyped for what Mike Macdonald is cooking with the Seahawks, there's some serious hockey fire happening that you NEED to know about. Our very own Everett Silvertips, the pride of Snohomish County, are not just showing up at the Memorial Cup, they're already making a statement!
That's right, the Silvertips are down in Kelowna, BC, at Prospera Place, and they've already bagged a win in this massive tournament. They walked into their game against the Kitchener Rangers on Monday, May 25, with a 1-0 record already in the books. You heard that right, a W before the puck even dropped on their second game. Talk about setting the tone early! We're only in the first period of that Rangers game right now, still scoreless at 0-0, but the fact they came in with a win gives them a huge leg up. Our local boys are looking to make some noise!

So, the Silvertips are off to a hot start at the Memorial Cup. They have one win, zero regulation losses, zero OT losses, and zero shootout losses. That's a clean sheet heading into what's essentially their second game, the one against Kitchener that just got underway. It's May, which means every game in a tournament like this is absolutely crucial. The stakes are as high as the Space Needle, and the Silvertips are bringing that grit and determination we love to see from our Washington teams. This isn't just a regular season game, this is for all the marbles!
Early Tournament Drama Sets the Stage
To give you a taste of the competition, we also saw a tight battle go down on Sunday, May 24, also at Prospera Place. The Chicoutimi Saguenéens edged out the Kelowna Rockets in overtime, a 3-2 nail-biter that went into the first OT period. That's the kind of high-octane action these guys are playing for. Chicoutimi now sits at one win and one regulation loss, while Kelowna is still chasing their first win with one regulation loss and one OT loss. It just shows you how close these games are going to be, and how every single goal, every single save, matters. Our Silvertips are in that arena, fighting it out with the best, and they've already proven they belong.
So keep an eye on those Everett Silvertips as their game against the Kitchener Rangers continues! This is the Memorial Cup, the biggest stage for junior hockey, and our local squad is there to win it all. Let's send them some 12th Man energy from the Emerald City and cheer them on to glory!
