Tiger Woods' Childhood Trophies Just Sold for Over $52K and the Story Behind Them Is Wild

Two trophies from when Tiger Woods was literally in elementary school just went to auction, and somebody paid over $52,000 to own them. These aren't replicas or memorabilia knockoffs. These are the actual hardware from tournaments Woods won at Heartwell Golf Course in Long Beach, California, back in 1983 and 1984, when he was just 7 and 8 years old.

How a Family Friend Held These Pieces of Golf History for Over Three Decades

The trophies ended up in the hands of Joe Grohman, who met Woods when he worked as the assistant pro at the Navy Golf Course in Cypress. For 35 years, Grohman kept these pieces of golfing history. Last Sunday, those trophies finally hit the auction block and sparked a serious bidding war. Forty-four bids came in before the dust settled, and the final hammer price landed at $52,995.60.

Why People Are So Obsessed With Woods' Early Hardware

Woods made an absolute impression on the golf world before most kids were even learning long division. The guy won tournaments in elementary school, which is absolutely ridiculous when you think about it. Those early wins became coveted pieces for collectors who wanted a tangible piece of Woods' legendary journey from kid phenom to 15-time major winner.

The fact that someone was willing to drop over $52K on two trophies from a 7 and 8-year-old tells you everything about Woods' legacy and the hunger out there for authentic pieces of his story. These aren't just trophies. They're artifacts from the moment the golf world realized something special was walking the fairways.
