Troy Johnston's Pinch-Hit Double Lifts Rockies Past Phillies in 11, Blows Past 6-Run Deficit

The Colorado Rockies just pulled off one of those gut-punch wins that makes you question everything you thought you knew about a baseball game. After blowing a six-run lead, they came back to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-7 in 11 innings on Friday night in a series opener that had all the drama you could want.

Troy Johnston was the hero here, and this is the kind of moment that sticks with you. With automatic runner Willi Castro on second base in the 11th, Johnston stepped up as a pinch hitter and ripped an RBI double off Brad Keller. That knock scored Castro with the go-ahead run, and just like that, the Rockies had their win despite having let this thing slip away.

This is the kind of game that defines a season. You're up six runs. You should be cruising. But baseball doesn't care what you should be doing, and the Phillies clawed their way back into it. Then the Rockies found a way to finish it when it mattered most, in extra innings when everyone's gassed and every pitch carries more weight.

Games like this one tell you something about a team's character. The Rockies didn't fold. They didn't accept the loss when things got tight. That's the kind of resilience that matters over the long haul.
