Two Fordham Basketball Players Banned for Life After Game-Fixing Betting Scheme

The NCAA just dropped the hammer on two former Fordham Rams basketball players, and the details are as messy as they come. Elijah Gray and Will Richardson have been permanently ineligible to participate in NCAA play after the governing body found them violating rules around potential game manipulation for sports betting.

The Scheme That Got Caught

The NCAA made the announcement on Tuesday with some damning details attached. Gray and Richardson allegedly connected with a known bettor who was indicted on fraud and bribery charges. This isn't some minor betting violation either, we're talking about a suspected attempt to throw games for money.

A third party from another sports betting investigation is the one who overheard Gray, Richardson, and another student-athlete discussing throwing a game for cash. That tip led to the NCAA enforcement staff getting involved and the rest is history.

Both Players Already Gone From Fordham

Gray and Richardson are no longer part of the Rams' basketball program. The NCAA's permanent ineligibility ruling seals what was already a done deal on campus, but now makes it official across all NCAA competition.

This is the latest domino to fall in what's becoming an increasing problem across college sports. Game-fixing for betting purposes crosses a line that the NCAA takes deadly seriously, and these permanent bans send a clear message: manipulate games for money and you're done.
