Ty Simpson's 'Secret Meetings' With the Rams Mean Sean McVay Is Either a Genius or Hollywood's Next Best Thing

Look, Ty Simpson just admitted he had secret meetings with the Rams heading into the draft. Sean McVay's reaction on draft night? Pure poker face. Either the guy is the greatest actor of our generation, or he's doing some seriously impressive damage control to make everyone think Los Angeles actually loves this pick. Pick your poison.

The Setup: Why This Actually Makes Sense

Here's the thing: there was a massive drop-off from QB1 to whoever people thought was QB2 in this draft class. The Rams clearly needed some sort of plan for life after Matthew Stafford, because his time has to be coming to an end eventually. Maybe they weren't even thinking about Simpson at pick 13. Maybe the whole plan was to trade back into the first round and grab him later. Or maybe they just didn't like anyone available at 13 and couldn't find a trade back that worked.

The problem? We'll never actually know what went down in that draft room.

The Real Issue: We're All Just Guessing

McVay could be genuinely thrilled about Simpson. He could also be furious and just hiding it really, really well. Without seeing the actual conversations, without hearing what the Rams were debating in real time, everyone's just throwing darts at a board and calling it analysis.

Imagine if the league put unedited cameras in every draft room and delayed the footage so teams couldn't spy on each other. You'd know exactly what McVay actually thinks. You'd hear the debates. You'd get the real story instead of whatever act is being put on for the cameras. But we don't have that, so Sean McVay remains either the greatest actor we've ever seen or completely misunderstood.

Until we know what he's really thinking, Simpson's secret meetings are just another draft mystery nobody can solve.
