UConn and Duke Set to Rematch on Thanksgiving Eve in Las Vegas, and This Time the Stakes Feel Different

UConn and Duke are about to run it back. The two college basketball powerhouses are finalizing plans for a Thanksgiving Eve showdown on November 25 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, according to CBS Sports. This isn't just any regular season game either. This is a rematch of one of the most brutal Elite Eight exits Duke has had in years.

That March Madness Heartbreak Is Still Fresh

Less than two months ago, Duke got absolutely gutted by UConn on March 29 in Washington, D.C. The No. 2 seed Huskies knocked out the top-seeded Blue Devils 73-72 in the Elite Eight, and it came down to a single possession. Freshman Braylon Mullins drilled a desperation 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left on the clock to send Duke home early. That's the kind of loss that sticks with you.

For Duke, this November matchup is a chance to erase some of that sting and prove they belong at the elite level. For UConn, it's a statement game against a team they just beat when it mattered most. The Huskies rode that momentum all the way to the national championship game before falling to Michigan 69-63, so they know what it takes to compete at the highest level.

History Favors Duke, But UConn Owns the Narrative

Duke leads the all-time series between these two perennial powerhouses 6-5, but don't sleep on UConn's resume in this rivalry. The Huskies won the 1999 NCAA Tournament title game against Duke in St. Petersburg, Florida, 77-74, which tells you everything you need to know about how these programs match up when it counts.

This Las Vegas matchup on Thanksgiving Eve gives both teams a marquee non-conference win to hang their hats on early in the season. For Duke, it's redemption. For UConn, it's a chance to prove last year wasn't a fluke.
