Vegas Just Ended Seattle's Season and Clinched the Pacific Division in Devastating Fashion

The Kraken's season came to a brutal end Wednesday night in Las Vegas. The Golden Knights beat Seattle 4-1, and with that win, Vegas clinched the Pacific Division title. Just like that, the Emerald City's playoff hopes vanished in a single game.

How It Fell Apart

This wasn't some close, nail-biting finish. Vegas dominated from start to finish, and Reilly Smith made sure everyone knew it. Smith tallied twice in the Knights' victory, putting the game out of reach and cementing Vegas as the division champions. When a team scores four goals on you and your goalie can only answer with one, there's not much you can do to stop the bleeding.

The Kraken managed just one goal all night. It wasn't nearly enough to keep pace with a Vegas squad that came to play in the season finale. Smith's two-goal performance was the story, but really, it was just another example of Seattle getting outmatched when it mattered most.

What This Means

This loss sent the Kraken home for the offseason. While Vegas locked up the Pacific Division and will head into the playoffs as the top seed in the West, Seattle's season ends without a playoff berth. It's a tough way to go out, losing on the road in a game that had everything on the line.

For a Kraken team that's been fighting all season, this finale stings. You don't get second chances at season-ending games, and Vegas made sure Seattle would pay for coming in unprepared.
